Jamestown-Yorktown

There is a lot of history in this area (really all of Virginia). Jamestown was the first British colony and it was tough for the colonialist. It was interesting in how the native people interacted with them, first kindly but soon as enemies. You learned a little bit about how they governed themselves and what they hoped for in this New World.

Battlefields are hard for me, Yorktown was no different. There are 250 year old earthworks but it was still hard for me to imagine what it would be like as a soldier. It's hard to grasp is the range of their artilery. It was a long time ago but they could still reach pretty distant targets and inflict some serious damage.

What I really leaned from this whole experience was that the American Revolution was totally enabled by the French navy.

We had Virginia oysters!
