Classroom
Classroom classroom’s holy trinity: the lesson, the discussion and the assignment. ### What makes a good online course All of the following in one website or tool/sw: * Interactive tutorials and quiz format like brilliant.org * A Wikipedia like comprehensive wiki embeded with course website for all kinds of reference. * An online community — could be a piazza/forum. * A github like service integrated with course site specifically for that course where students can submit their projects and be evaluated by other forum members/mentors etc. reply Learning = time invested, a consistent environment, and feedback * Resource curation 2. Guided active retrieval practice (questions, tasks, self assessment and feedback) 3. Collaborative experiences (professional examples, tadks and feedback) 4. Reflection and connection. (Connecting this learning to what has happened before or is likely to happen next * a five-step process of 1) gathering material, 2) intensely working over the material in your mind, 3) stepping away from the problem, 4) allowing the idea to come back to you naturally, and 5) testing your idea in the real world and adjusting it based on feedback. The 10X Rule says that * you should set targets for yourself that are 10X greater than what you believe you can achieve and * you should take actions that are 10X greater than what you believe are necessary to achieve your goals. The biggest mistake most people make in life is not setting goals high enough. Taking massive action is the only way to fulfill your true potential. Mild success can be explainable by skills and hard work, but wild success is usually attributable to variance and luck Actively practicing something is very different from passively learning. You will never reach a level of performance that feels complete, so learn to love the art of practicing your skill. The only thing that is capital-T True is that you get to decide how you’re going to try to see life and how you construct meaning from experience.
