The project has come up with substantive and helpful
definitions of these concepts. Thus it defines "learning
outcomes" as "statements of what a learner is expected to
know, understand and/or be able to demonstrate after
completion of learning. Learning outcomes specify the
requirements for award of credit" (Tuning 2007, p. 3).
"Competences"' are defined as "a dynamic combination of
knowledge, understanding, skills, and abilities. Fostering
competences is the object of educational programmes.
Competences will be formed in various course units and
assessed at different stages."
